This past week, Eastern Kentucky University’s public profile saw its largest increase in the number of fans since it went public.  The highlight feature and new feed to include updates from fan pages I believe are the reasons for the big jump.   528 new fans over a three day period; April 13 – April 15 (see chart below).

Check out EKU facebook here.  Has anyone else seen a spike in the number of fans of their University/College public profile?

Below are the dates EKU students can register for their fall and summer classes.  Students should be making appointments with your advisors now.

Who is my advisor?  Check your CARES report and find out who your advisor is along with his/her contact information.  If you have a double major or a minor, you will have multiple advisors.  Students need a Registration Access Code (RAC) number in order to register.  If you have a financial hold, please talk to Student Accounting Services to get that resolved.

Be sure to review your CARES and bring a list of classes you wish take to your advising appointment.  If you have any questions regarding summer classes, pre-requisites, programs, policies, etc., be sure to let your advisor know.

For more information please visit www.advising.eku.edu or contact us at (859) 622-2276.

If your grades are not where you want them to be – do something about it! Ask questions.  Pick up your studying.  Take notes.  Manage your time more effectively.  Attend Academic Support Workshops.

EKU OVC Champs

November 22, 2008

EKU beat UT Martin 33-31 to capture their 20th OVC title.  EKU blocked a 45 yard FG with seconds remaining to hold on for the win.   The Colonels are now 19-0 against the Skyhawks.   Eastern scored 24 points to start the game off of 4 Martin turnovers.  The second half was a different story as the Colonels’ offense sputtered and the Skyhawks could not be stopped.  EKU was able to hang on and win, clinching it with the blocked field goal.  The Colonels finished the year with a turnover margin of +16.  Last year the defense had a turnover margin of +22.

Last day to drop a class…

October 30, 2008

Is Friday, October 31.  Also known as All Hallows Eve, aka Halloween.  It is the night before the “All Hallows,” also called, “All Hallowmas,” or “All Saints,” or “All Souls’ Day,” observed on November 1.  This day is to celebrate all of those who have gone before us.  Mexicans celebrate El Día de los Muertos — the Day of the Dead — on November 1.  They too celebrate the memories of those who have passed away.

So, of course this is great day for students to lay to rest – drop, those classes in which they have no chance in passing.  On November 1, they can remember and celebrate all the good times they had in those classes.  And they can look forward to finishing the semester strong and being academically successful.

If you need any assistance dropping a class or have any questions please contact Academic Advising & Retention, (859) 622-2276.

Happy Halloween!

EKU Football 2009 Schedule

October 15, 2008

Eastern Kentucky University released their 2009 football schedule.  EKU will play 3 non-conference games, including, Indiana and Kentucky.  The UK game will not be until November 7.  The Colonels host Western Carolina on November 14.  Eastern will play 5 games at home, including their Homecoming game on October 17 against UT Martin. I am personally looking forward to the home game v. Tennessee State.  I sure hope they bring their band.
